Story Spirit
'Today was beyond words, thank you for bringing hare to life' - Cami, event organiser.
Story Spirit is a body of work offering monthly workshops to adults. We will meet close to the centre of Exeter at St Katherine's Priory.
Our quest is to explore stories of animals, folklore and deep magic.
There is the option to dive deep into both crafting, interpreting and dreaming stories by attending every month. Or to choose one of the three courses on offer.
Story Spirit seeks to not only develop Storytelling skills but also to move closer to the Spirit of the story. We work with the understanding that sometimes old stories have new meanings. Stories are not fixed and there is no right or wrong. What we seek is to find the truth of the story in the present moment.
The Three courses on offer are;
Crafting a Story from Folklore
Spirit of Animal
Dreaming and Seership
Crafting a Story from Folklore
In this four part course we will explore how to go about finding stories in folklore that you want to tell. What to look for and where to look for this. We will work with the art of crafting a story for oral telling, reworking themes and allowing the Spirit of the story to come through on the thread of breath and imagination. We will investigate what holds us back and how we can loosen our inner critics to invite the richness of creativity to rise up from the earth and along the vehicle of our voices. In this way we will seek to speak out more clearly and vividly for the benefit of the the Earth and all her creatures.
Dates for this course are;
October 13th 2024,
November 17th, 2024
January 12th 2025
February 9th, 2025
Each part is a one day course. October and November can be attended as one off's but January and February will be building on earlier work.
Price; £75 for one day or £70per day for 3 or more days.
You are invited to bring a vegetarian lunch to share in community.

Animal Spirit
Starting in December we will begin the work of Dreaming with Spirit of Deer.
The stories that we will work with are of this land, Celtic tales which will be told initially by Clare. On this course if Storytelling is not for you, you can work with interpretation and with the task of getting to know each animal better through the stories you will hear. If you are eager to tell, there will also be an invitation to retell and explore through voice but staying close to the theme of the day. There will be an opportunity for sharing, meditation, movement and craft work.
These workshops can be attended as a whole or as one off's
Dates are;
Spirit of Deer, 8th December 2024
Spirit of Hare; 9th March 2025
Spirit of Beavor; 8th June 2025
Spirit of Wild Cat, 14th September 2025

Dreaming and Seership
Drawing on wisdom from the Shamanic Way of the Honey Bee, sometimes known as the Forest Way, we will explore dreams in a way that encourages lucid storytelling.
We will work with meditations from deep within the Earth and seek to drop into our own wombic space. In this way we open space within ourselves to receive and speak the dream of the earth. Clare has been practising this womb centred, earth based response to dreaming for many years. It is enormously nourishing, supportive and healing.
This is an advanced course. You must either have evidence of previous shamanic practise and attend one other of the above courses. Or you must have attended at least four of the above courses. Please contact Clare to discuss.
Dates are;
20th April 2025
11th May 2025
20th July 2025
10th August 2025
You are invited to bring a vegetarian lunch to share in community.
Price £280 for the full course
You can pay £80 for 20th April before committing to £210 if you wish to continue.
